Lois Struthers-Payne is the Southeast Division Vice President and a life member of the Gulf Coast Unit located in Nokomis, FL. Raised in Ft. Wayne, IN and moved to Venice in 1972. She was self employed hairstylist for thirty five years and is now employed as a Sales and Service Associate for the United States Postal Service.
Lois first started as a volunteer with the League in 1985 and then was Charter President in 1990 and is currently holding the office of treasurer. Progressing through the Depart- ment chairs she was Dept. of FL President in 1998-2000. Then served on many committees on the National level. She served as SEDiv Assistant Vice President from 2006 to 2010 and in March of 2010 was elected Division Vice President. Lois is Past Madame Big Flea for the Dept. of FL MODDF and is currently progressing through the chairs of the National Military Order of Devil Dog Fleas.
Lois’ dedication to the veterans and the community does not stop with the League. She has worked with the Sarasota County Veterans Commission, the Venice Area Veterans Council on it’s Paws For Patriots Program, is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 159 and a life member of VFW Tamiami Memorial Ladies Auxiliary 8118 where she is serving as treasurer. An active member and treasurer for the American Postal Workers Union Local 3803.
Lois is married to Donald Payne who served in the Navy 1964 to 1976 and resides in Venice, FL.
